Creative Player Lethal Shooting – The Art of Scoring Goals!
The ability to score is at the heart of team sport! In soccer the final result of any tactical system is the ability to create chances and score goals. Just this past weekend I was reminded how the outcome of an important game is often decided by a Creative Player who posses “Lethal Shooting” ability!
Over 108 minutes of scoreless soccer was played by Olympic and Lake Norman High Schools in their NC 4A third round playoff game. Lake Norman squandered several clear scoring chances in overtime. What did Tyler McMahan of Olympic want? “All I wanted was one good shot in overtime, one chance.” When it came he did not disappoint. Tyler, a senior forward, and leading scorer for the Trojans this year, bent a well placed shot over the Lake Norman keepers head and into the side netting from 20 yards out. The celebration was on!
It does not surprise me that Tyler delivered the winning goal. He developed the ability to score goals and important goals as a youth player training under the Creative Player philosophy. He rehearsed all components of scoring goals: from scoring within the six; over a distance; off crosses; volleying, heading, breakaways, and penalty kicks. Some of the most memorable moments I have as a youth soccer coach involve Tyler and his wonderful ability to score goals and to do it when it really mattered!
You too can become a Lethal Shooter! Join Creative Player this off-season for our Lethal Shooting program and develop the ability to SCORE GOALS!!!
