Creative Player Golden Goal Leads to Soccer Crown!!!
“Rarely does a single goal in a high school soccer carry so much significance. On Nov. 21, however, Matt Risher scored the biggest goal in Marvin Ridge High School History.” This lead off quote appeared recently in Union County Weekly describing the dramatic significance of the game winning, sudden death overtime, golden goal Matt scored in the Maverick’s 3A state championship 2-1 win over Chapel Hill High School at Cary’s Koka Booth Stadium outside of Raleigh, NC. ‘When a student is fully trained he shall be like his teacher.’ This proverb holds special meaning to me as a coach and trainer of youth soccer players. I have personally been involved with Matt Risher’s soccer development since he was 10 years old as his former youth coach and trainer. His recent MVP performance in the Maverick’s 3A state championship win over Chapel Hill HS reminds me of my own MVP performance with Greece Arcadia HS in our 3A state championship win over Massapequa HS back in 1981 in Upstate New York. Like Matt, I scored the game winner!
Matt epitomizes and is the product of Creative Player SKILLS training and philosophy. Matt often wears his Creative Player t-shirt under his game jersey for inspiration! As the 2009 Union County Player of the year, Matt often demonstrates the creative attack building skills that are the hallmark of our SKILLS Mastery Program. Now Matt is giving back not only on as player, but as instructor in our camps and academy programs.
This is another wonderful testimony to the continued player development that Creative Player imparts to young emerging soccer players. Matt will tell you that his technical foundation was laid early and fostered by our philosophy of technical creativity and enjoyment from soccer!
I hope that you will continue to allow Creative Player to be a wonderful part of your child’s soccer development in laying the right SKILLS foundation for their future success and enjoyment. Truly, Matt reached his full potential as a scholastic high school soccer player. We can certainly help your child do so too!
