The Value of Hard Work in Life and in Futbol!

Wednesday, May 16th 2018 LYON, France — Striker Antoine Griezmann punished sloppy Marseille with two expertly-taken goals as Atletico Madrid won the Europa League for the third time with a resounding 3-0 victory in the final.  However, beyond the title, Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone shared a valuable life lesson that transcends sport itself.  "It's more than about winning the Europa League tonight,” Simeone stated, “It’s about more than a trophy, it represents the value of hard work, a steady hand and consistency, values to be successful in life. Keeping at it, keep working hard and it will bear fruit." We share the same values at Creative Player!  Over the years we have encouraged our youth, both boys and girls, to strive to reach their full potential both in soccer and in life.  Reaching your potential both on and off the field is process requiring hard work and perseverance through all the ups and downs that life throws at you. In this year’s final the comfortable lead allowed Atletico to take off Griezmann in the final moments and give veteran forward Fernando Torres a send-off, as he came on to a huge ovation from the red-and-white horde of Atletico fans.  The 34-year-old Torres, who is leaving Atletico at the end of the season, finally won a trophy with his beloved club. He raised the trophy aloft with his right hand in front of adoring fans who nicknamed him "The Kid" when he started his career in 2000.  Simeone paid tribute, "He leaves a legacy of never surrendering, never lowering his guard, he never gave up even when I left him out.” The 34-year-old Torres, who is leaving Atletico at the end of the season, finally won a trophy with his beloved club. We at Creative Player want our youth to raise a trophy as well, not only the soccer one, but the most important one of all the ‘trophy of life.’  By never giving up and never giving in, we impart the same message and values to our players as Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone does to his!
